VISIT OF HUNGARIAN STUDENTS

Ten secondary school students and two teachers from the Békéscsabai Belvárosi Általános Iskola és Gimnázium in Hungary visited Málaga and I.E.S. Mayorazgo from the 19th to the 23rd of May as part of an Erasmus+ project on sustainability.

The Hungarian students and teachers and our class of 4º ESO A had the chance to meet online the week before their visit. Once they were in our school, some 4º ESO students showed them around the facilities of I.E.S. Mayorazgo and explained some aspects of the Spanish education system.

The Hungarian students also presented their school and town. As to the topic of sustainability, both the Hungarian and the Spanish students introduced each other the topic of how ‘green’ their school, towns and countries were, and they worked together to find out more about how the sustainability of their own environment could improve.

Some of our 4º ESO students could also act as tour guides of some landmarks in Málaga. The Hungarian students attended one regular class of 4ª ESO History on the Independence of Latin American Colonies. The best part of this visit was the opportunity that both teachers and students had to get to know each other and learn about our countries and towns.

The students could use English as a real tool of communication and realise how useful it can be to improve their linguistic skills in oral comprehension and expression. Volleyball games on the beach were also a part of the shared after-school activities.

We are looking forward to meeting them some time again, maybe in Hungary.

Thanks for the great time we had together.
